Tasting Note
Medium-bodied Saint-Julien with black and red berries, cassis, cedar, tobacco and mineral notes. Fresh acidity, polished/velvety tannins and a savory, minty finish; approachable young with 8–12 years aging potential.
Food Pairing
Western: roast lamb, grilled ribeye, beef stew, aged hard cheeses (Comté, aged cheddar). Asian: Peking duck, char siu, Korean BBQ (bulgogi), Chinese red-braised beef or braised short ribs.
Production Method
Hand-harvested fruit, strict sorting; traditional Bordeaux fermentation in vats followed by oak barrel ageing (portion new oak). Made as the estate's second wine from younger parcels.
Vineyard Info
Château Beychevelle (Fourth Growth, Saint-Julien) produces the Grand Vin and the second label Amiral de Beychevelle; historic estate with modernised cellars, owned/managed within the Castel group (Suntory partnership).
