Awards/Ratings
Noted high scores for recent vintages: James Suckling 96 (Tococo 2021), Vinous ~95 (2021) and The Wine Advocate ~96 (2021). Tococo has been cited among Chile's top Syrahs. (Scores vary by critic/vintage)
Tasting Note
Violet and black-pepper aromatics over black cherry, blueberry and graphite; earthy 'granite dust' minerality. Bright acidity, fine chalky tannins, savory spice and a persistent peppery finish.
Food Pairing
Western: grilled lamb chops, roast beef, venison, charcuterie, aged cheddar. Asian: Korean BBQ (galbi/bulgogi), Chinese char siu, spicy Sichuan lamb skewers, teriyaki or miso-glazed beef.
Production Method
Hand-harvested; spontaneous native-yeast fermentation using 100% whole clusters (racimo entero) with foot treading in stone lagares; aged in 2,500L oak foudres (≈18–22 months).
Vineyard Info
Viñedos de Alcohuaz (Flaño family, enologist Marcelo Retamal). Single-parcel vines planted ~2009 at high altitude (~1,788 m) on decomposed-granite soils in the Elqui Valley.
